Presbytery of the Northwest
The Presbytery of the Northwest is a regional court within The Presbyterian Church in Canada, overseeing and supporting congregations in their worship, mission, and ministry. It provides leadership, pastoral care, and resources to help churches thrive while remaining faithful to the teachings of Christ.
Spanning a vast area across Alberta and British Columbia, the presbytery extends from Drumheller north to Peace River, east to Chauvin, and west to Chetwynd, BC. The Presbytery of the Northwest was formed through the merger of three former presbyteries: Central Alberta, Edmonton-Lakeland, and Peace River.
Beliefs & Who We Are
Who We Are
The Presbyterian Church in Canada is a branch of the Christian church that is evangelical, catholic, and reformed. As evangelicals, we are dedicated to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ; as catholics, we embrace the unity of the universal church; and as a Reformed church, we remain steadfast in the principles of Reformation theology. We believe in the authority of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, and the necessity of grace through faith.
Our Structure and Mission
Our Presbyterian form of government is built on a representative system, with four courts guiding the church: the Session at the congregational level, the Presbytery, the Synod, and the General Assembly. Committed to social justice, we seek to serve our communities with compassion and advocate for reconciliation, particularly with Indigenous peoples. Through worship, service, and faithful discipleship, we strive to glorify God and share His love with the world.

They support marginalized communities through sustainable development, emergency relief, and refugee sponsorship. Guided by compassion, justice, and partnership, they work with organizations like the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to combat hunger, promote peace, and empower communities to overcome poverty and disaster.
